My first rangoli…

Filed under: Uncategorized — steve @ 5:00 am

It was the first rangoli competition that I participated and to my surprise i found around 100 teams participating. It was a part of women’s day celebration that our HR department has arranged this event. We were a team of three people and all the three of us new for rangoli. Anyway we decided to try our hand at it. We started planning three days ahead of the competition getting ready with a winning strategy. We decided who to bring which materials. I was to bring chalk pieces and flowers. One of the girls was to bring salt and the other to bring color powder.

The d-day came. Before the competition I enquired these people. The girl with color powder said she is on the way to office when it was 30mins before the competition. At least for this she could come to office on time. Thank God the other girl was ready with materials. Finally that girl reached the office with colors just a couple of minutes before the competition. Just like the 11th hour entry. We were given a theme and my ground work dint go waste. I had collected few pictures from internet for women related rangolis. And it helped me to fit into one of those themes. I completed copying the diagram onto the floor. When we sat for coloring, I asked the other girl for salt. And she extended me highly refined, purified, iodized powder salt. I was shocked to see it. Oh baapre she was so naive at it she dint know it was crystal salt to be used and not powder salt. Somehow with a time span of an hour we managed to complete borrowing colors, salt and adjusting here and there. So was my first rangoli experience. No wonder it dint fetch me any prize but I must say I was pleased with the work we did rather the way we managed.

Six Sigma

Filed under: Uncategorized — steve @ 4:56 am

The much hyped about SS says “If a task is done a million times, it can go wrong 3.4 times. Its nothing but nearing to perfection.

Perfection is a word that sometimes makes me cheeky and at times leaves me paranoid.
It’s a word whose meaning is far from my reach.

My question is why anyone should be perfect in whatever he does, when not the so called perfect work itself can reach everyone.

After all to err is human.
I am a person who believes in the right to make mistake. By this I don’t mean that I intentionally make mistakes but when something goes wrong just don’t feel guilty and keep going. Making mistakes and learning from them and not repeating them again but doing new and fresh mistakes is a way of life. After all it’s the way of growing. (As long as they are not blunders.)

In a way Six Sigma at least made “Perfection” a measurable word. In the sense it doesn’t varies with person to person or context. It’s something that can be measured. SS knowing or unknowingly made this point clear.

And I am sure; anyone or any group that wants to prove SS or implement the concept of SS can never do it. Perfection doesn’t come to everyone and it cannot be thrust upon anyone. It’s a passion; passion towards what they do that lead them to a perfect way. They may not be passionate about Perfectionism as such.

To be frank, one day I believe I should see the Six Sigma from the perspective of those who framed it and want appreciate it.

Matching the Training Program with your Physical Condition

Filed under: Uncategorized — steve @ 12:35 pm

When considering a physical fitness training program it is important to undertake a program that matches one’s physical condition. For example a senior physical fitness program should moderate program and one that is not too strenuous. This is important especially if the senior has had little or no activity up to this point.

Examples of a starting physical fitness training program for a senior would be a moderate to minimal walking program. In addition, it is important not to overdo the program initially, but workup to a comfortable distance walked on a daily basis. This will ensure that the senior doesn’t hurt themselves.

The Godlen LAW – Murphy’s law

Filed under: Uncategorized — steve @ 4:58 am

Definitions
1) “If anything can go wrong, it will.”

2) “If there’s more than one possible outcome of a job or task, and one of those outcomes will result in disaster or an undesirable consequence, then somebody will do it that way”

3) “Anything that has a probability of happening greater than 0 can and will happen. No exceptions.”

Examples
The queue that we choose to stand always moves slower and the person standing before us will always have the most complicated transaction.

The bus we take always goes slow than the bus that we just left thinking it will be slower!

All the three definitions just prove one thing; whatever we do never expect the desired outcome
Its second most applicable law to our life next to, the Newton’s third law.
In a way I should say both the laws are related to each other. The Newton’s third law says “For every action there is equal and opposite reaction”. So had we done our action correctly then the reaction will be good.
Of course we can take the root of it to Cosmos theory or the butterfly effect. No wonder if the origin of the earth, you and me can be rooted to CT or BE then why not these petty incidents of daily life.
